one swan lake

swanny

This is the somewhat tame swan at one of my favourite places to go (the Los Gatos Creek county park). Along with all the geese, ducks, seagulls and a bunch of other birds that I don’t know the names of, there is one solitary swan. I’ve posted him (I think it’s a him) before, but I was back again today for more because I can’t get enough of the place, evidently. Despite the fact that I haven’t lived in my hometown of Perth, Western Australia since I was 19, white swans are still rather novel to me. Having grown up with black swans in a state where they’re even on the coat of arms, I’ve also always expected any swan to be aggressive, but this guy is a total sweetheart who is very fond of the park rangers and humans generally speaking. Can you hug a swan? I hope so.
